Would a new job interest you – or anyone you know?

A few years ago I created a website which had 400 and odd pages, mostly just advice. Then I decided to improve it – and my life has never been the same since, as everything went wrong.

The new site is up – but I was always rather fond of the old one. But I recall that out of all the helpful stuff we had on that site, the most read was a piece on how to get a job.

Most people haven’t got a clue. The young ones because they’ve never done it before. The old ones because they’ve forgotten whatever they once knew. They nearly all make the same mistakes.

So today I spent a little time doing a short video to introduce a report on that subject. In the report I give a few examples of what works and what doesn’t.

It is actually aimed at prospects for a programme my partners and I are putting together which you can read about on www.eadim.com.

This mammoth venture is taking me on a whistle stop tour of Europe as we have got twelve different countries involved. But in the first place, if anyone is interested in how you get a new job – not necessarily for yourself – let me know and I’ll point you in the direction of the video. It isn’t up yet but it will be in the next day or so. I’d really appreciate your opinion.

By the way, do you think Obama can beat McCain?

I don’t. And if he does, I shudder to think of the effect of his naive protectionist policies on the world economy. Just as I shudder to think of McCain continuing Bush’s manifold lunacies. Worrying.

On the subject of lunacies, I spent a day in the divorce courts on Tuesday. That deserves a piece on its own.

    Drayton,

I’d love to have a look at your new video. This is the kind of topic one can never know too much about IMHO.

    Many thanks!

I’d be interested in the report too.

  3. Drayton,

I’d very much be interested in your video. Thanks.

As far as Obama vs McCain, I think Obama has a good chance against McCain, for two simple reasons:

    1. The war in Iraq is getting less and less popular, and

    2. McCain has alienated a fair amount of the core Republican constituency with his more centrist policies, his combative reputation (whether true or false) and some of his past comments about Christians and Christian conservatives in particular.

Personally, I’m not voting for either of them, which means my vote will be ideological only and won’t really make a whit of difference.

On the other hand, I think both major party options are scary, so I’m screwed no matter how I vote in the election.

But I will vote. At least that way I’ve earned my right to gripe about the outcome. 🙂

I’d love the video, please send the link.

Can Obama beat McCain… I’m a registered Democrat & a Hillary over Obama gal, but there is no way I’m voting for Obama. He’s even more corrupt than the Repub. party & Hillary combined! And that’s saying something.

Why vote for someone that has such a lengthy history of hating the country he so desperately wants to run? His wife is a complete embarassment.

  5. The next election in the U.S. will be determined not by diehard Democrats or Republicans, but by the independent and moderate voters who have tired of the Bush administration’s penchant for poor decision-making and piccadillos.

Add in the poor economy and the morass that is the Iraq War, and McCain, who is viewed by many as supporting an ongoing conflict in Iraq, faces some pretty high hurdles to get elected.

Simialrly, the Republicans are in trouble as many voters see the Party as being a part of the mess created by Bush.

While I wouldn’t necessarily bet against McCain, odds are he’ll not be planning a move to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January 2009.

As for Obama, one can only hope that he’ll surround himself with smart advisers who’ll he will listen to whether he likes what he hears or not, unlike the Bush administration which has continually run off anyone who was not a “tow-the-line” loyalist.

Can anyone beat this for positive spin,?

Research discovered that Hillary Clinton’s great-great uncle, Remus Rodham, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows. On the back of the picture is this inscription ” Remus Rodham; horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1883, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted, and hanged in 1889.”

    Hillary Clinton was e-mailed this for her comments and her staff sent back the following response;

“Remus Rodham was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to service at a government facility, finally taking leave in 1887 to resume his dealings with the railroad . Subsequently, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honour, when the platform on which he was standing collapsed”.

  7. Drayton – you ask about Obama? I think he is a marketing man and that is how he is winning.

    See http://www.MarketingObama.com

His advanced marketing techniques shine through in his website. If he is as far ahead in everything else he does, he cannot fail to win the biggest market share.
