What happens when you give the job to Human Resources?

You get copy produced by the Jargon Is Us machine. Will it find any Geese that lay Golden Eggs?

 As I’m always desperate for money I read this ad for a copywriter put out by a big direct marketing firm. So famous they can now afford an HR department.

Here it is, in all its glory

 CALLING ALL COPYWRITERS!

XXXXX is looking for a conceptual, fast-paced writer to partner with our online consumer engagement team. Working on new creative for our 1MM+ customer file and the pch.com home page, you will brainstorm ideas, write compelling sweepstakes-oriented copy for pch.com, landing pages and more, as well as enhance engagement by creating enticing, interactive consumer experiences. You will also be involved with translating desktop creative for the mobile environment.

Under the supervision of the Online Creative Director, you will be responsible for original content and interact with various teams to develop, schedule, and produce projects through completion.

David Ogilvy said good people are the geese that lay golden eggs. No chance finding any with that lot.

According to the note on running time in my old copy of Halliwell’s Film Guide an ennigeering function of British television causes in an imperceptible speeding-up of projection and consequent loss of one minute in every twenty-five . I don’t know whether that’s still the case, but it makes me wonder if the slightly short length of the DVD’s version of this film is a result of a technical factor.
