This will bring tears to your eyes

John Walter was quite right to scold me yesterday — and I shall talk about this again. In the meantime, something entirely different, sent by my friend George in San Francisco.

  1. He can have my lifestyle, it only costs $3,700 for the whole bloody year.

  2. Drayton,
After you so graciously admitted you were mistaken in your understanding of the apology to the aboriginal people in Australia, I, as an Australian, have to retreat from the moral high ground and return to the swamp of despair.
I know this is off subject but knowing you have many American readers I would like to offer an apology to them for the atrociously rude behaviour of our former Prime Minister, John Howard.
Apparently your President George W Bush has offered Howard accommodation at Blair House as a calculated slight to Barack Obama before Howard is awarded a medal by the President.
Any person of decency and minimal courtesy would immediately move out and find accommodation elsewhere. But Howard, showing the petty self-delusional sense of his own importance refuses, thus causing your President-elect considerable embarrassment and discomfort. Howard’s behaviour is hardly going to help US-Australian relations.
So, on behalf of this Australian and I am confident the majority of my fellow countrymen, I apologise to the American people.
You elected Bush we elected Howard. Obvious soul mates.
