Five years ago my beloved took me on a surprise birthday trip to a glorious restaurant overlooking Lake Garda.
I ordered carpaccio. Just as I was about to eat it, she said “That is actually donkey meat.”
“Is that true?” I asked the waiter.
“Si, signor,” he replied. “But only the old ones.”
I ate it and it was excellent.
When I was at Prep school in 1943 there was still a war going on and you got some odd food. One day they served us horse steak. I didn’t care for it, but I lived.
At one time I had six horses and ponies. I was very fond of them, except when I did the mucking out. I also had 56 sheep. I liked them too, especially the lambs. But it didn’t stop me eating them.
We British are really illogical about food. The Chinese eat everything. A friend in Shanghai told me he had eaten donkey’s penis. He is from Birmingham, but is acclimatised.
If you want to worry, pay attention to the latest from the Department of Homeland Security. There is also a flaw in most people’s brains. This flaw makes them think they can get rich without working.
They dream they can enjoy a part time income without lifting a finger, or have a “passive income” easy as pie and so on.
For some years now my partner Al and I have been working away on getting a passive income.
He has had a couple of streams going for a while, like an extended test, and now we have got two more going

What is weird is that three of the four are on subjects we know little or nothing about. One came about by accident, really.
In case you’re wondering, “passive” is highly misleading. It took a lot of work, and once it gets going you must keep an eye on it. But it does keep coming in – and growing.

    Are any of the ‘Four Passive Incomes’ telling people you have ‘Four Passive Incomes’ and then charging for telling them how you do it?

    Passive income hmmm?

    Is that making money for passive people or making money while you are passive? Sadly the ones buying the stuff from scammers tend to think they can make a packet while watching daytime TV. Oh and they probably don’t finish reading how the little scheme works, they can’t be that bothered.

    I am a great fan of passive income. If you have the spare time, money or some form of skill/inventiveness then surely it can be invested. Writing a book, buying a property or spending time designing perpetual motion machines may yield passive income. Spending commuting time reading is an investment which could lead to better fees if the stuff taken on board is useful.

    Making use of idle resources is something that many or most could benefit from but some spend too much time concentrating on the “idle” bit?
